Exploiting the principles of alignment and hierarchy and the assets provided, create a poster for this theatre production. • You must use all of the copy • You must use all of the logos • You must use at least one of the images •You can create more than one ‘final’ poster • You must use Illustrator to compose your final poster/s, though you can use Photoshop to colourize or overlay the images. • You can introduce colour and/or texture in the type, images, background, etc. • You can manipulate the type (e.g. tracking, leading, outlines, inlines, etc.)
l started by looking at some theater poster in a range of styles i raver like the midsummer nights dream poster. I love the simpic style of it and when you look closer at the title you can see some of the leaves are covering the type. i feel this bring knew dimethes to the poster. I also particle like the Macbeth as i find it's more the little detail in this post. For example the poster he's holding the slice line they put in adds something else to the type i think.
I then moved onto the thunmails. i found this a great way to start as i it was a quick way of playing round with layouts and were things are going to be placed in illustrator.
first designs
I started my designs by editing the picture by adding color to then. I think it give adit more life to the picture whilst crontasting with the black dotted layout. I then crop and enlarge the images so there was more of a focus on the eye as the title is Private eye. i choose to put the text in one typeface which i feel wasn't the best choice as it works well as a header but in small print it doesn't work very well as it looks blotchy and gets lost on the pages. I put all the type in white so it was legadel and so it didn't get lost in the images. I think the 2nd poster has most potential out of the tree poster as the color of the image works so well with the white text. how ever I think the text could do with some rearranging to created adit more white space and added some balance to the poster.
arraignment of the text/poster 2
iI have rearranged the type so there would be more white space and it gives the text more breathing room. I think the 3rd post has turned out the best as the texted I revolving around the eye. Which I find works well as you have the title coming down the side with the eye looking at it. I think I an going play around with the imagery with its drightnes and shadow as I think it looks adit bull at the moment.
final design
This is my final design I have placed the texted so it is revolving around the texted. I feel the way it has been laid out it is clear wear the alignment and hierarchy is in terms of information. I think the sizing of the type is right and balanced and workers more as one peace. I choose to move the logos to the top corner side and move ( a socially distanced covid comedy) as i felt this worked better at the bottom of the pages. I feel the golden color contrast works well with the white and give it the look of to one instead of to separate things. I love the how the type revolves around the eye which creates tis great white space and the eye is at an angled which makes it look like it staring at the title of the play.
